Djemba-Djemba could miss rest of season
Cameroon midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba is likely to miss the rest of the Danish league season because of injury.
The 28-year-old, who plays for Odense, was stretchered off during Sunday’s 2-0 win over Aarhus in a league game.
He had a scan on the problem area immediately after the game and was expected to be out for two weeks.
But subsequent tests by doctors show that the injury is worse than first feared as he could be out for two months.
“We initially thought he could be out for two weeks but doctors now say he will be out for a longer period,” Peter Horluch told BBC Sport.
“The doctors found that the ligaments in left knee are loose and that usually requires four to eight weeks for player to recover.”
This means Djemba-Djemba could miss the rest of the season as the season in Denmark ends on 16 May.
But the midfielder should be ready to join Cameroon’s World Cup team ahead of the tournament to be held in South Africa in June.
The Indomitable Lions are in Group E as they will play Denmark, Holland and Japan.
