     Perrier Doumbe poised for return

Celtic are poised to sign Scottish Cup final goalscorer Jean-Joel Perrier Doumbe on a three-year contract.

The Cameroon international was on loan from Rennes when he scored the late winner against Dunfermline Athletic.

But the 28-year-old is hoping to return to the Scottish champions after becoming a free agent.

And his agent Willie McKay told Record PM: "I am hoping to get something sorted out with Celtic over the next couple of days."

Perrier Doumbe, who also played for Auxerre, arrived at Celtic Park in January.

He did not break into the first-team until April, but he impressed in his five appearances thereafter and capped it all with the goal that clinched the league and cup Double.

"The player has been offered a three-year deal but has not signed anything yet because he has been away on holiday," said McKay.

"We will be addressing the situation as soon as he returns."

Meanwhile, former Celtic midfielder Bertie Auld hopes two Italians linked with Celtic can make a similar impact in Glasgow as Paolo Di Canio.

Reports in Italy claim Celtic manager Gordon Strachan is close to signing Sampdoria midfielder Gennaro Delvecchio and AC Milan winger Massimo Donati in deals worth £5m.

"I remember Fergus McCann, the man who used to own Celtic, speaking to me in Las Vegas after he had just signed Di Canio and he asked me what kind of player I thought he was," said Auld.

"To be truthful, although I thought he was a good player, I thought he was at the wrong end of his career.

"But, when he came, he was a bit special and he played for the jersey."

Delvecchio, 26, said he could make Celtic a more dominant force in Scotland.

"If I move to Celtic this summer I would help them become bigger, stronger and dominate Scottish football," he told the Scottish Daily Express.

"Celtic have already shown they can compete in the Champions League, but I think I could take them further down that road."

Meanwhile, Celtic striker Maciej Zurawski said he was unaware of reports suggesting he was surplus to requirements.

The arrival of Scott McDonald and Chris Killen has bolstered Gordon Strachan`s attacking options and increased speculation over some players leaving.

"Nobody at the club gave me a reason to feel unnecessary," said the Polish international.

"I don`t intend to go anywhere and I`m not afraid of the competition from the newly-signed strikers.

"The fact the club is strengthening does not mean that someone wants to get rid of Zurawski."
