Djemba-Djemba hints at Man Utd move
Cameroon international Eric Djemba-Djemba has confirmed a deal has been agreed to take him to Manchester United next season.
The 22-year-old Nantes midfielder has been linked with an Old Trafford move throughout the summer.
And Djemba-Djemba, currently starring for his country at the Confederations Cup tournament in France, has hinted that he will be a United player next season.
Speaking after Cameroon´s 1-0 win over Turkey, the midfielder said: "I got some phone calls telling me United were interested - and I´m thrilled such a big club have come in for me.
"I have already met Sir Alex Ferguson at Nantes and it was great to meet such a famous manager.
"I was stunned when I heard a deal had been agreed. I´m so excited about playing in England."
The deal, thought to be worth about £3m, is unlikely to be confirmed until after the Confederations Cup has finished
But the player´s agent, Willie McKay, claimed: "United have made their intentions clear and Eric is desperate to go.
"The clubs have been in talks over Eric for a while," added McKay.
A Nantes spokesman added of any potential deal: "It could certainly happen next week."
Djemba-Djemba is an industrious holding player and is renowned for his ability to break down attacks.
His tough-tackling style saw him pick up one red and 11 yellow cards during the course of last season
A boyhood United fan, Djemba-Djemba could be the long-term replacement for Roy Keane, who has been beset by injury and is not expected to play in every game next season.
