Argentina clash set to be rearranged
The Lions have been forced to change their World Cup warm-up match with Argentina to accommodate televising the France versus Scotland clash.
Marketing and television companies have forced The Indomitable Lions to shift their World Cup warm-up match, in the French city of Marseille on March 27, against World Cup favourites Argentina.
The date coincides with the World Cup holders France taking on Scotland in Paris and priority has been given to the world champions leaving Cameroon`s German coach Winfried Schaefer unhappy with the decision.
He said: "We wanted to play in Marseille where there is a huge concentration of Cameroon`s fans. But we would obviously have to change the date because we cannot play the same night as the French team for marketing and television reasons."
The African Champions forced France to a 1-1 draw in October 2000 at the Stade de France in Paris and their current form after retaining the African Nations Cup has made the game against Argentina a box office attraction.
No fresh date or time has been reached but the coach hinted that The Lions would play the game at full strength.
He added: "We consider all matches important and have to justify our rating as African Champions and one of the best teams in the world."
The German boss insisted he would keep faith with age long tradition that it is unwise to change a winning side. Yet, he has recalled former Middlesbrough striker Joseph-Desire Job and defender Pierre Njanka.
Job was dropped for the Nations Cup on account of his poor form in his new club Metz, while Njanka missed out due to injury, however, both are to join the team in the friendly against Argentina.
