Lauren returns for Cameroon
Etame, Pierre Wome and Joseph Désiré Job are part of a 22-man squad for the 28 April friendly against Bulgaria in Sofia.
Lauren, who plays for English Premiership side Arsenal, quit the Indomitable Lions after laying the blame for their poor 2002 World Cup performance on the country`s football federation.
But Schaefer has convinced him to return as Cameroon prepare for the 2006 Nations Cup and World Cup qualifiers, which commence on 4 June.
Wome also put aside a bitter quarrel with football officials which cost him a place in their 2004 Nations Cup squad.
Job missed that competition due to injury.
Another player making a comeback is goalkeeper Hamidou Souleymanou of Turkey`s Denizlispor.
Souleymanou was a reserve goalkeeper at the 2000 Nations Cup finals but had been subsequently ignored until now.
Modest Mbami, Salomon Olembe and Daniel Ngom Kome are the notable names amongst the nine dropped from the team that participated at Tunisia 2004.
The squad will assemble in the French capital Paris on Monday for a training session, before leaving for Sofia the following day.
