Olympic champion Kanu sponsors six heart patients to Israel
LAGOS,
The organisation founded by Nigeria`s 1996 Olympic football champion Nwankwo Kanu to help heart sufferers has sent six patients to Israel for treatment, an official said Thursday.
The heart sufferers will undergo heart surgery at the Wolfson Medical Centre in Israel, a top official of the Kanu Heart Foundation, Oyebuchi Abia, told reporters in Lagos.
Abia said the trip will cost the foundation about 70,000 dollars.
About a year ago, the organisation sponsored five heart patients to London for treatment.
Nigerian international Kanu, who plays for Arsenal at club level, established the foundation a year ago. The player himself had successfully undergone surgery in the United States, following Nigeria`s Olympic win in 1996, after he was diagnosed with a serious heart ailment.
