Libyan Ambassador at Minsep
Ahmed Abdallah M. Boukhres was received last Friday by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education.
The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Philippe Mbarga Mboa, last Friday granted audience to the Libyan ambassador to Cameroon, Ahmed Abdallah M. Boukhres. The visit of the Libyan ambassador comes barely one week to the joint World Cup and African Cup of Nations’ qualifying match between Cameroon and Libya, billed for Yaounde on June 19, 2005. According to Ahmed Abdallah, the visit was not only to discuss sports issues. It was also a brotherly visit, he said. He said that the visit gives them the courage to advance in sports in Africa.
The ambassador said that there is a need to give assistance and to support the two teams so that they will represent Africa out of the continent. He expressed the wish that the encounter will take place in good condition and will reflect African sports. He wished Cameroon success as they vie for a ticket for the World Cup adding that Cameroon is the pride of Africa. "Cameroon is a great sports nation. Cameroon has registered good results in sports especially these last years," he said. He thanked the Minister of Sports and Physical Education and his collaborators as well as the Cameroon Football Federation for their support during the preparations of this match.
On his part, Minister Philippe Mbarga Mboa said that Cameroonian players had no problem in Libya. He assured him that the Libyans will be at home in Cameroon. The Minister said that Cameroon and Libya have excellent relations. He expressed the wish that the match will further strengthen relations between the two countries. The Libyan delegation will arrive in the country on June 16.
