Deadline looms for CAN 2010 bids
Seven countries have submitted formal bids to host the 2010 African Cup of Nations.
Nigeria, Mozambique, Namibia, Senegal and Libya presented individual bids to the Confederation of African Football (Caf), while Gabon and Equatorial Guinea made a joint application.
Zimbabwe did not make a formal presentation but submitted it by post, which is allowed under Caf regulations.
Botswana, Morocco and Angola are expected to make their interest known before the Monday 31 October deadline.
The unprecedented interest in staging Africa`s top football event is connected to the World Cup finals that South Africa will host in the same year.
With the global football fraternity bound to pay more attention to the African continent in 2010, the country that hosts the Cup of Nations - which is staged four months before the World Cup - is hoping to profit from the spotlight.
