Egypt hit by Mido injury
Ahmed `Mido` Hossam has pulled out of Egypt`s squad for this weekend`s World Cup qualifier against Cameroon.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker sustained a muscle tear during their 3-2 victory over Charlton in an English Premiership match on Saturday.
"He told us that he can not travel to Yaoundé and requires 10 days rest," Samir Adly, administrative manager of the Pharaohs, told BBC Sport.
Amir Azmi Megahed, who plays for Greek side PAOK Salonika, is also missing while Zamalek striker Abdel Halim Ali left camp after failing to pass a fitness test.
Cameroon`s Indomitable Lions need a victory against Egypt to seal their fifth successive appearance at the World Cup finals.
Egypt, out of contention for a World Cup place, qualify for the African Cup of Nations as hosts.
But a good result in Yaoundé will reduce pressure on manager Hassan Shehata, who has been under fire from Egyptian FA board members for the recent poor form of the national team.
