Eto`o explains Barcelona tantrum
tribalfootball.com
Barcelona striker Samuel Eto`o has defended his tantrum on Sunday as he was substituted against Albacete.
The Cameroon ace was subbed with two minutes to go after scoring Barca`s opener in the 2-0 win. The decision by coach Frank Rijkaard infuriated Eto`o, who snubbed assistant Henk ten Cate as he stormed down the players` tunnel. He then left the stadium early, without attending a pre-organised media conference.
However, Eto`o explained yesterday: "People ask me if I would like to win the Liga or the top scorer`s award. Well, I say this: I want both!
"I was upset about my substitution because I thought I would score again and I had a special celebration ready for the occasion."
Eto`o insists he is happy at Barca and added: "Here people believe in me. I have given everything that I can, but it has been the club that has given prestige and recognition to me.
"This club has paid great money for me, but it has never put pressure on me. The only pressure on me comes from myself. I am very happy at Barcelona."
