Elephants draw satisfaction
Nigeria`s one preparitory friendly for the Nations Cup ended in a 1-1 draw away to Ivory Coast.
The Super Eagles started the game very shabbily, and Ivory Coast were threatening within four minutes through a bright-looking Kandia Traore.
It was no surprise when after 24 minutes Traore put the Elephants ahead when he caught Nigeria keeper Shorunmu out of position.
This was after he had already missed three good chances.
For Nigeria, Jay-Jay Okocha showed some nice touches, but the Super Eagles didn`t really get going until the second half.
It was Benedict Akwuegbu who grabbed their equaliser, when on 55 minutes he finished off a great move from the edge of the six yard box.
But that moment aside, there was still little telling penetration for Nigeria and their clear-cut chances were few.
And it was the Elephants who had the best chance to take victory.
With just four minutes to go, Traore missed a golden chance, firing wide with only Shorunmu to beat.
But both sides eventually had to settle for a draw, raising further questions about the level of Nigeria`s preparation.
