Nigeria seek revenge over Ghana (02.02.2008)
Nigeria midfielder Seyi Olofinjana has described the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final against Ghana on Sunday as "a revenge mission".
Eleven months ago, Ghana claimed the west African bragging rights with their first win over Nigeria in 15 years, a 4-1 friendly victory in London.
Olofinjana, who plays for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the English Championship, was in the Nigeria team that night.
"It`s a perfect opportunity to right the wrongs of last year," he said.
Olofinjana, along with the rest of the team, and millions of fans, was stung by that defeat at Brentford FC.
"They not only beat us, but walloped us in London," he said.
"Now it`s about the players, and the country to restore dented pride.
"It`s the most suitable way of getting our revenge against Ghana on their home ground."
Jon Mikel Obi, who has been the star performer in the struggling Nigerian side, is not getting carried away with the hype and the headlines.

Instead, the midfielder is looking forward to facing his Chelsea team-mate Michael Essien, who took great delight in reminding Mikel of the score
"This is a bigger game than the one in London," Mikel said.
"Essien had a good laugh the last time, but I now have the opportunity to prove to him how important this game is to the country.
"I know it will be an explosive game, we have recovered from our early set-backs and the criticisms, now the team is united for this battle."
Austin Eguavoen was Nigeria coach at the time of the defeat to Ghana, and is now assistant to Berti Vogts.
"I did not have the full complement of my squad when we lost to Ghana then, but now our present squad is going to turn the scales in our favour," he said.
"In the game in London we made some mistakes and we paid dearly, we also trained just once before the game.
"I`m sure this time around it will be a different ball game," he added.
