Tunisia 0-3 Guinea (30.01.2006)
Guinea stunned defending champions Tunisia to win Group C of the African Cup of Nations and stay in Alexandria for the quarter-finals.
Ousmane Bangoura gave the Guineans a first-half lead before Pascal Feindouno and Kaba Diawara scored late in the second-half to give the Syli Nationale a maximum nine points.
To rub salt into Tunisia`s wounds, the North Africans had Issam Merdassi sent off after receiving a second yellow for bringing down Diawara, with seven minutes of the match remaining.
Bangoura gave Guinea the opening goal when he fired from inside the box in the 15th minute.
The forward should have increased his goal tally before the interval, shooting wide after a good solo run in and then clipping
the crossbar.
Guinea deservedly added to their lead in the second-half when Feindouno, who came on as substitute, doubled the score.
He then turned supplier when he chipped a cross for Diawara in injury time, who headed home with ease.
Tunisia also had their fair share of chances, including a Amine Letaief curled effort that was cleared by the Guinean defence.
Haikel Guemamdia whipped a shot across the face of goal and then saw his looping header come off the crossbar.
The African champions had not lost a game at the Cup of Nations since they were defeated 1-0 by Egypt at Mali 2002.
Guinea will face the runners-up of Group D in the last eight, while Tunisia will play the winner of the same group.
