Cameroon-Morocco Friendly Today (15.11.2005)
The on-going riots in French cities have forced organisers of the Cameroon-Morocco friendly to hold the match behind closed doors. Originally scheduled for Evry, just outside Paris, the 15 November game had been moved to the Charlety Stadium. But questions were raised about security at the Charlety grounds following pitch invasions at the Tunisia-DR Congo game last Friday which led to the match being abandoned in the 65th minute. The Cameroon-Morocco encounter will now go ahead at the French Football Federation training centre in Clairefontaine, but no fans will be
admitted. Sources in the Cameroon camp who are already training in Paris, say the organisers of their game against Morocco, who also organised the Tunisia-DR Congo game, could not give enough security guarantees to the French authorities following last Friday`s incidents. It will be the first test for both sides as they begin preparing for next year`s African Cup of Nations finals in Egypt. France imposed emergency measures in 38 suburbs, towns and cities, including Paris, last Wednesday as a result of the violence being perpetrated by angry youths across the country.
