Eto`o to miss Cameroon friendly (12.08.2006)
African Footballer of the Year Samuel Eto`o has been left out of Cameroon`s squad for next Wednesday`s friendly against Guinea.
Cameroon`s Football Association (Fecafoot) said that Eto`o has been excluded because he is touring the United States with Spanish champions Barcelona.
Espanyol goalkeeper Carlos Kameni was also left out because of his side`s Spanish Super Cup tie against Barcelona on 17 August, a day after the Guinea match.
"We think Guinea is a good sparring partner for Cameroon judging by their impressive performance during the last Nations Cup," said acting Cameroon manager Jules Nyongha.
Cameroon have been without a permanent coach since Portuguese trainer Artur Jorge stepped down in February.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Ephraim Inoni gave Sports Minister Philippe Mbarga Mboa one week to recruit a successor.
