Lamine Ndiaye, New Assistant Coach of Senegal (15.05.2006)
The coach of Cotonsport Garoua was last Friday appointed assistant national coach of the teranga Lions of Senegal. Lamine Ndiaye’s contract with Cotonsport expires in July 2006. The former Senegalese international, expressed his happiness to be "back home after being away for 25 years." Ndiaye will be assisting French-Polish national, Henri Kasperzack. Kasperzack and Ndiaye replace Abdoulaye Sarr and Amara Traore, whose contracts expired after the last January/February Africa Nations Cup finals (CAN) in Egypt. Kasperzack was selected for his knowledge of African football, recalling that he had managed the national teams of Tunisia, Morocco, Cote d`Ivoire, Mali and Burkina Faso. He also managed several French clubs including Metz, Strasbourg, Montpellier, Lille, Saint Etienne and Bastia. As a player he reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in 1978 with Poland, for who he earned 63 caps. "Next week, Kasperzack will be in Dakar, with his lawyer, to sign the contract," the FSF chairman said, adding that the new coach and his assistant have been tasked with taking Senegal to the final of the 2008 CAN in Ghana.
